I debated whether to post this or not, but decided to go ahead and do so just in case anyone was interested. Every year, Warren Haynes puts together a Christmas Jam concert as a benefit to raise money for the Asheville (NC) Chapter of Habitat For Humanity. Taylor was a Special Guest for the 2006 Jam, which I believe was held on December 16, 2006. ( Click here for more information on the musical guests for the Jam as well as the Set List. The RAVE HD Network (Dish Network Channel 9470) will be airing this two-hour concert several times beginning Friday, June 29. Concert airings (all times are ET)Friday, June 29 @ 9:00 PM Saturday, June 30 @ 12:00 AM Saturday, June 30 @ 11:00 AM Saturday, June 30 @ 5:00 PM Sunday, July 1 @ 12:00 PM Sunday, July 1 @ 5:00 PM Sunday, July 1 @ 10:00 PM I knew nothing of this Christmas Jam Concert when it happened, and I know nothing of it now. My source says that Taylor Hicks was a part of this, though in looking at the set list he only sang with other people on a few songs (none of his own songs). Plus, I'm not aware of another singer named Taylor Hicks that would be listed as a Special Guest. So if you have the Dish Network and get this channel, there you go. If you do watch, let me know if it is indeed our Taylor that was a part of this. Plus, for anyone else who might want to watch, let us know which times during the concert he comes on. ---------- Additional airings on the RAVE HD Network for the month of January (2008) have been added. See above for more information on RAVE HD. Concert airings (all times are ET)Friday, January 4 @ 10:00 PM Saturday, January 5 @ 3:00 AM Monday, January 7 @ 6:00 PM Sunday, January 13 @ 4:00 AM ---------- The "Warren Haynes - The Benefit Concert 2006" DVD is now available. You can order it through Amazon.com .

Aw...I wish I had Dish Network. Warren Haynes is an AMAAAZING guitarist (one of my very faves)...and yeah, Taylor was part of it. I heard he did a "harp-off" with John Popper and gave him a run for his money (no one can beat J. Popper). There were lots of great artists that were involved in this, so it's worth watching (even if it weren't for Taylor) for those of you who have Dish Network.

I found this list - you can match it with the link Alan gave for the set list ... but the BEST PART is that you can WATCH all these as videos!!! I just watched the 2 songs where Taylor makes (short) appearances. His harping is definitely in the background, and his singing in I Shall Be Released is pretty short - but amazing! I also attached the 2 photos I found that included Taylor. In the big crowd he's easy to find!!! So, go here and watch the videos to your heart's delight!! http://www.citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=999951205003&theme=christmasjam&template=specialWarren Haynes Christmas Jam: Through the years (1,980 KB) Warren Haynes opens the 2006 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. I thought Taylor only had that one short part in I Shall Be Released, too...but if you listen to the whole song..Taylor is on backup and you can hear him quite well....here is a download of the whole song.. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ys4gngHere are a couple more... Fortunate Son http://www.sendspace.com/file/cqh1haSugaree http://www.sendspace.com/file/8rytx5 Walkin To New Orleans http://www.sendspace.com/file/9mslls Also, he sings with Outformation that same weekend....listen to this one....Can't You See....absolutely amazing...This is over at GC's archives..... http://www.graycharles.com/index.php/2006/12/31/the-xmas-gift-that-keeps-on-giving/#comments The other songs on here by Outformation Taylor does mostly harp....Sweet Louisiana & Long Hard Ride...It is a good listen... We are hoping someone can capture the Warren Hayes on Rave HD and get some good video from tv... ETA: I just noticed the 2 links above are not underlined..just copy and paste the link...

SoulTraveler,
Thanks for the welcome.....I am not positive that is Popper...I believe the only other harp player was Mickey Raphael...They all 3 were on at least one song....All the songs listed at GC are the ones Taylor was involved with by either singer or playing harp or both...This is why we need to get a capture of the entire concert so we can see who sang or played what and when...I have had these since December...I play them pretty much once a week...They are truly amazing of what Taylor can do...I was impressed that he got so much time in with this jam and I hope he continues to get these appearances...Critics and radio stations be damned.....He is getting accepted by his musical peers and true music magazines such as Relix and Glide.....

COCHEM, I agree...Taylor sounds amazing with these guys. I think it is awesome that he is able to play with these legends and hold his own. I bet he was on top of the world! I think that was Popper on Walkin' to New Orleans, because I thought I heard someone introduce him at the end and it definitely sounded like him! Let's keep our fingers crossed that someone will record the concert.

Here ya go... a review from Glide Magazine
I found this on GC's....
Glide Magazine has an outstanding review of the show. Taylor gets excellent feedback here.
BEST SIT-INS: Where to begin? Randall Bramblett turned “Mule” into a futuristic boogie freak-out during Gov’t Mule’s set, tricking out his tenor sax to sound like a full brass-and-woodwinds orchestra. The three-man harmonica blowout–John Popper, Taylor Hicks and Mickey Raphael–in the middle of the Social Club’s “Walkin’ to New Orleans” was a hair-stander.
More from Glide....
LEAST EXPECTED SONG THAT WAS PLAYED: Everything is fair game for the Mule, which has rarely met a cover it couldn’t make into something special and, well, Mule-ish. Still, leading off the encore with “Sugaree” was a kind surprise, made even kinder with Stuart’s mandolin, Bayliss’ guitar, and harp and harmonies from Taylor Hicks.
and one of the “Most Intense Musical Moments”
“Big Chief > Fortunate Son” New Orleans Social Club with Branford Marsalis, Taylor Hicks and Warren Haynes
