Today's bills game! Denver 15 Buffalo 14 right at the fricken last minute Denver won! Sorry, but VERY unusual for Elam to miss two field goals. I knew there would be no way he'd miss that third. Just can't believe they got it off in time. Happy for a win any way it comes.

It does put things in perspective, doesn't it? It sounds like it could be a pretty serious injury. I hope he's okay too.

Jumping in a bit late here...
I'm a big college football fan (Go Vols). My hubby is a big COWBOYS fan. I don't really have a choice in the matter as far as pro is concerned...lol.
I spent the entire weekend watching football. It was so refreshing to have the season start again. But my fantasy team is sucking it up right now...and I'm matched up against my hubby of all people. I got so frustrated at my team's players that I had to walk away from the tv before screaming at the screen...lol
How about that injury for the Bills TE (I think it was the TE anyway)? I just saw it on Sports Center...

Bills' Everett to spend one to two days under sedation ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Bills reserve tight end Kevin Everett will spend one to two days under sedation as doctors evaluate the extent of a severe spinal injury that could leave him paralyzed. Kevin Everett AP Photo/Don Heupel A trainer attends to Kevin Everett after he showed no signs of consciousness following a helmet-to-helmet hit on Denver's Domenik Hixon at the start of the second half. Everett is in the intensive care unit at Buffalo's Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital after a four-hour operation performed hours after he was hurt in a season-opening loss to Denver, Eric Armstead, a partner of the player's agent Brian Overstreet, told The Associated Press on Monday. "He'll be sedated for the next 24 to 48 hours and we won't know more until then," Armstead said. "We were told by the doctors that the surgery went well." According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, doctors in Buffalo have told members of the Bills that bone chips were removed during surgery. Everett's family members, including mother Patricia Dugas, were to arrive in Buffalo on Monday from their Houston home, Armstead said. Overstreet told the AP late Sunday that his client had some "sparse movement." "The next couple of days is going to be critical," said Overstreet, responding to a question about paralysis. "Our concern is for him to come out of this healthy and, hopefully, be able to walk again." The team doctor, John Marzo, is expected to provide a medical update in the afternoon. Bills general manager Marv Levy on Sunday night said doctors informed the team that it's too early to determine the severity of the injury and they will know more after monitoring the player overnight. "Certainly, we feel the injury is serious, but I don't want to speculate, and that's what the doctors told us," Levy said. "They told us to wait to hear from them before making any speculative announcement." Everett sustained what the team called a cervical spine injury when he ducked his head while driving in to tackle Denver's Domenik Hixon during the second half-opening kickoff. Everett dropped face first to the ground after his helmet hit Hixon high on the left shoulder and side of the helmet. Replays showed the player twitching for a few seconds as he attempted to get up before falling back to the ground. Everett had his eyes open but showed no further signs of movement during the next 15 minutes as the team's medical staff and emergency personnel carefully placed him on a backboard and, with the player's head and body immobilized, loaded him into an ambulance at the Broncos 30. The injury recalled the one to Mike Utley, the former Detroit Lions guard who was paralyzed below the chest. He injured his neck in a collision during a 1991 game. "I'm sorry this young man got hurt," Utley told the AP. "It wasn't a cheap shot. It was a great form tackle and that's it." The 41-year-old Utley now lives in Washington state and is promoting a bike tour aimed at raising money in an effort to cure paralysis. "These are big strong men competing at the highest level. You can do everything to prepare yourself -- lift weights and all that," Utley said. "But is it going to happen again? Yes." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3012739&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines

It was terrible seeing that injury. Knew it was really bad when the ambulance came on the field.
Have been praying for him too. Hate to see any injuries, but that one was really awful.

Football season is always family feud time for me!! I lived in Pgh. til I was 9, then we moved to Miami Florida. . . . .so I'm still a Pirates fan for baseball, but when it comes to football, I'm a die hard Dolphin fan!!! Of course the rest of my family still roots for the Steelers, so it's always fun. Unfortunatley for me, I just can't see my Dolphs winning very many, if any games this year. We were just starting to rebuild when Saban screwed us royally by going back to the college ranks after promising that he wouldn't leave the Dolphins!! I'll still root for them every week tho! I Love football!!

I saw the highlights of the hit and I shuddered, that poor guy, I just hope he lives, forget football, just hope he can live long somehow. Thanks CV!! A helmet was suppose to protect him! I played football, Sony. Every helmet has a warning sticker about the possible dangers, even if worn properly. Helmet to helmet contact can be very dangerous, although this was a clean hit. Going at full speed is very risky, and they put their careers on the line with every play. The equipment is safer than it was when I played in HS, but you can still have a career ending injury if hit in the right spot, even with the best gear.
