http://www.coolpeoplecare.org/event/2008/01/26/palm-night/ Palm Night 2008 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Palm Night is The Family Center's annual gala to raise funds to support our fight against child abuse and neglect. Since 2000, Palm Night has raised over $3.7 million for The Family Center and its programs.
Each February, Palm Restaurant Charlotte closes its doors to the general public to provide free lobster and steak dinners to guests for Palm Night. This year, Taylor Hicks will perform live. This black tie affair will also include live and silent auction items.
--------- Admin Note: Below is a copy of the letter found on The Family Center Website regarding the upcoming Palm Night 2008. On January 26th, Palm Night 2008 invites you to be Idolized as American Idol winner Taylor Hicks performs “An Evening of Soul”Dear Friend, The Palm Restaurant has chosen The Family Center for the ninth consecutive year as the beneficiary for Palm Night 2008. We are delighted to be a part of this incredible partnership and hope that you will join us for an elegant black-tie evening. The night will include a fabulous five-course dinner, a silent and live auction and a performance by one of the most entertaining Idol winners yet, Taylor Hicks – all encompassed in a sophisticated nightclub straight out of New York. Join us at the Palm Restaurant for “An Evening of Soul.” The generosity of Palm Night guests enables The Family Center to substantially increase the number of children and families we serve each year. Over the past eight years, Palm Night has raised over $3.7 million dollars. At The Family Center, we are committed to our mission because children are the heart of the matter. Your support will help The Family Center continue its critical work to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect. Last year, The Family Center provided hope and healing to over 11,000 children and families. We would be honored to have you sponsor Palm Night this year. Enclosed is a sponsorship opportunity form. This stellar evening will not be complete without you. Please direct any questions to Libby McLaughlin at (704) 376-7180, extension 213. Also, please visit our website at www.thefamilycenter.net. With your investment, The Family Center will continue to be a place Where Hope Grows. Sincerely, Daryl Hollnagel President/Sponsor Committee Member Palm Night 2008

Wonderful though. Hope someone from the Soul Patrol will go and give us the low down. Thanks for posting. I tried to TP you...but Karma happened...Later...hee hee...

Tix are $1,000 per person & those are the cheapest ones because it's a charity event.

That is a lot of money. I know chances are good that no one here will go, but still..... since it's open to everyone, it gets to have its own thread.

Official Lurker here... I live in Charlotte and work with many people involved with Palm Night. While it is technically open to anyone, it's a super-exclusive event - made so from the sponsorship prices. I believe this is one of the first times they've brought in this type of entertainment though. Maybe he'll do a late night show at Coyota Joe's again? One can hope! ETA: I'm not allowed to send personal messages... anyone know if that's an account settings thing? Anyway, unfortunately I won't be going to Palm Night - way too expensive for my blood - but I may just happen to be lurking around Phillips Place that night!

Yes, I believe you can't send PM's until you've posted "so many posts" (don't know the # though) ~ so keep posting and, before you know it, you're IN! And TP4U (Taylor point) for sharing that info with us!

Hey ya'll!!!!!! Yes, I was there & it was such a great event. Taylor & the band were on fire & definitely gained some new fans!!!!!!!!!! Had not seen the link that you provided us Lisa, so THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Gosh, there are tons of pix & they all capture the beauty & elegance that night. There are some pix of me & my friend Donna too :-)I really cannot put that moment into words ... the pix speak for themselves. I will tell you that Taylor was in the BEST mood I've seen thus far. I know he felt the love.... he hung out & mingled and was totally relaxed. Thx again Lisa :-)
