TOSP/TTHC Salvation Army Angel Tree - now open

TheOfficialSoulPatrol.com and The Taylor Hicks Community have teamed up with the Birmingham Salvation Army to operate our own online Angel Tree this year.

Last year, you helped TheOfficialSoulPatrol.com and The Taylor Hicks Community provide a much needed Christmas to 10 Birmingham area children with over $1,000 in donations and gifts. Because of you, those Angels had presents waiting for them to open Christmas morning.

We are once again seeking your help in providing a much needed Christmas for another group of Birmingham area children. Our 2008 Angel Tree is open and our Angels are waiting for you to adopt them. And as an added bonus, everyone who sent in a Taylor Christmas wish to Taylor's Angels and participates in the TOSP/TTHC Salvation Army Angel Tree by either adopting an Angel or donating some money will receive a copy of the holiday DVD that Taylor’s Angels is putting together for Taylor Hicks.

Our Angel Tree works just like the ones you find in the mall each year, except ours will be done completely online and the gifts you buy will have to be boxed up and mailed back to the Birmingham Salvation Army.

How does a child become an Angel?

(per the Birmingham Salvation Army)

• Families go through a screening and registration process as well as referrals from other agencies.
• Each family must provide proof of meeting minimum poverty guidelines.
• Parents are required to provide specific proof of each child’s age and identification.
• Foster children automatically qualify for this program since they have been removed from their homes.

If you are interested in adopting one of our Angels, visit our 2008 Angel Tree. Then send an e-mail to jatterb@theofficialsoulpatrol.com. Include your real name, your TOSP or TTHC member name (if you are a member), and the name and App # of the Angel you would like to adopt. Please include a second and third Angel choice in case your first choice has already been adopted.

For those who prefer, you can make a cash or credit card donation to our Angel Tree via the PayPal link below. All money donated will first be used to make purchases for any remaining Angels on our Angel Tree. Any leftover monetary donations will be used to adopt additional Angels from one of the Birmingham Salvation Army’s other Angel Trees.

The last day you can adopt an Angel is Sunday, November 30, 2008. All gifts must be received by the Birmingham Salvation Army no later than December 5, 2008.

I want to thank everyone who has donated to our Angel Tree. So far, you have donated $255. This does not include the Angels that have been adopted.

However, we still have many more Angels that need to be adopted, or, should they not be adopted, that will need your donations so that we can adopt them at the end of the drive. If you can help at all, please do so. The last day to adopt an Angel or make a donation is Sunday, November 30.

CORRECTION:

I have just found out that there was a miscommunication between myself and Taylor's Angels. In order to qualify for a free copy of the DVD, you must submit something for the DVD to Taylor's Angels as well as donate to or adopt from the TOSP/TTHC Salvation Army Angel Tree.

So if you have already donated to or adopted from our Angel Tree, please make sure you also make a submission to Taylor's Angels to be included in the DVD they make for Taylor.

Hey gang,

We still have 8 Angels on our Salvation Army Angel Tree that need to be adopted. We have received $305 in donations, but that is only enough to adopt 3 Angels with. This means that we still need your help in making sure we don't have to return any Angels to the Salvation Army, which could result in that child not receiving any presents this Christmas.

I am extending the adoption and donation deadline to tomorrow, Monday, December 1. If you are at all able to, please either adopt an Angel or send a donation to our Angel Tree. Any help will be appreciated.
